We proudly announce that from June 2025, we will deliver Tier 2 of The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism – the government’s preferred and recommended training programme for all health and social care staff.

This vital training is designed to save lives by equipping the workforce with the skills, knowledge, and understanding to provide safe, compassionate, and person-centred care to autistic people and people with a learning disability.

Named in memory of Oliver McGowan, whose tragic and preventable death highlighted the urgent need for better training across the sector, this programme aims to address health inequalities and improve care outcomes.

Following the introduction of the Health and Care Act 2022, it is now a statutory requirement that all regulated service providers ensure their staff receive training on learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role.

The training supports the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan by upskilling staff to deliver more inclusive care and reduce avoidable harm. Together, we can help prevent other families from experiencing the same devastating loss.

We’re committed to playing our part in building a more inclusive and informed health and social care system. Tier 2 training is ideal for staff who have regular contact with autistic people and/or people with a learning disability.
